Even if all paths lead to an ancient ruin reminding us of the importance of Greek history, they also lead to the sea which has bound the Greek people to the rest of the world and which offers high quality beaches, sun and life style. Each region has its own distinct characteristics: Attica, once celebrated by the poets for its delightful countryside and the Peloponnese which witnessed all the turmoil that forged the Greek miracle and is the location of such mythical sites as Mycenae, Olympia, Epidaurus and Mystra� Then there is Central Greece mistakenly famous only for Delphi and thus often ignored by the tourists. Northern Greece, the heart of Alexander the Great's Empire, still bears the signs of its proximity to Constantinople plus a long-standing Ottoman presence and where the villages continue to preserve Balkan art and tradition. On top of all this is the Mediterranean climate: hot and dry in summer, mild and wet in winter with the occasional cold snap which affords the rare pleasure of skiing on the slopes of Olympia and Mount Parnassus... just one more reason to believe that Greece is indeed blessed by the Gods.
