The village of Fontaine de Vaucluse is reminiscent of the Italian poet Petrach who found refuge here. However above all it is the vast 1,000 feet high cliff and the spring that lies at its feet that will attract our attention. This great natural fountain is the most powerful in France and ranks 5th in the world. Also of note are the ruins of the Castle of the Bishop of Cavaillon, the Church of Notre-Dame, the remains of a Roman canal and the Library Museum dedicate to Petrach.
